In the northern part of Lacerta, about 2.6 degrees north of β Lacertae, lies the small planetary nebula Abell 79. With a major diameter of only about 2 arcminutes, it has a ring shape that emits Hα light. Faint loop-like structures extend outward to the east and west resembling whiskers.
