Abell 72 is a medium-sized planetary nebula located 2.2 degrees southeast of δ Delphini, which forms the diamond shape of the constellation Delphinus. It has an irregularly bright, roughly circular shape with an apparent diameter of about 2 arcminutes, featuring a protruding structure extending southward. The slightly bluish central star is a 16th-magnitude white dwarf. The distance from the Solar System is estimated to be around 6200 light-years.
