The great approach of Mars in 2003 occurs in the constellation of Aquarius. Its reddish glitter is attracting our attention in autumnal skies including few bright stars. You can find out the alpha Piscis Austrini, Fomalhaut, just south of Mars, but the lonesome 1st magnitude star in autumn is inconspicuous behind the glittering red planet in this summer.
