On the night of Sep 7 to the early morning of Sep 8, 2025, a total lunar eclipse was observed across Japan. This composite series of images captures the Moon's appearance, with a frame taken at maximum totality placed at the center. The weather was generally favorable, allowing the entire course of the eclipse to be seen without being obscured by clouds.
This total lunar eclipse appeared considerably darker than average, with the Moon taking on a deep crimson hue rather than the typical coppery-red. On the following pages, photographs capturing the eclipse will be presented.
