Comet 2000WM1 LINEAR came closest to the Earth in southern hemisphere, and later, moved to the constellation of Sagittarius in February 2002, and came in sight of observers in northern hemisphere. Although the comet had the burst and brightened up to 2nd magnitude, unfortunately the exciting event couldn't be observed in Japan.
Comet LINEAR in this day had a magnitude of about 6 and a faint dust tail stretching toward southwest with 5 arc minutes in length.
