Comet Wild 2 on early morning of Jan 11, 2010



Date & Time: Jan 10 2010, from 25:22 to 26:03 JST(+0900)
Composed 6 shots with 8 minutes exposed
Optical: Meade 25cm(10") Schmidt Cassegrain with a conversion lens (f=1760mm, F7.1)
Auto-guided with Meade LX200 Equatorial & Pictor 201XT
Digital Camera: Nikon D50 (Remodeled)
Location: Ooizumi, Hokuto city, Yamanashi pref.

Camera Settings: Recording Format...12bit CCD-RAW, converted to 16bit TIFF(3008×2000)
CCD Sensitivity...ISO1600



The first shot of comet Wild 2 has been positioned in central region of Virgo, about 2.5 degrees west of gamma Vir. The comet has a coma brightness of 10th magnitude, about 1 magnitude brighter than the prediction. And we can detect a dust tail in west direction with characteristic features looks like curved shape.
