On this day, Interstellar comet 3I ATLAS was located low in the eastern sky at dawn, about 2.7 degrees west of η Virginis, and its coma was observed to be 10th magnitude, nearly the same as when it was photographed last week. No prominent tail was detected, giving it the appearance of a typical small comet. It passed perihelion at the end of Oct and is now heading back out of the Solar System. It will remain observable under favorable conditions from Japan for a while, but it is expected to fade rapidly.
View angle: 0.70×0.70°
