This image shows comet Wierzchos during its fading phase after brightening to 7th magnitude at the end of January 2026. On this day it was located in the southwestern part of Taurus in the western evening sky, a faint coma of magnitude 11-12 could be seen 14 degrees southwest of Aldebaran. A fan-shaped dust tail extending toward the southeast is also visible. The comet will remain observable until around June 2026, but it will continue to fade rapidly from here on.
