Comet 2021S3 PanSTARRS has been moving northward through the Milky Way in Cygnus since last month. On this day, it was located in the northeast sky at dawn, 3.5 degrees WSW of Deneb. The brightness of the coma is even fainter than last month, at a dimmer 11th magnitude, and a dust tail extending beyond 0.5 degrees to the west is visible. In this area, the emission nebula IC1318 is spread out, with some of its parts appearing red in this image. The comet will be observable as it moves from Cygnus to Cepheus throughout 2024, but it will rapidly dim from now on.
View angle: 0.70×0.70°
