On this day, the comet Pons-Brooks was located in the northwestern low sky in the evening, approximately 8 degrees northwest of α-Andromedae (Alpheratz). The brightness of the coma was estimated to exceed the forecasted 7th magnitude, ranging between 5th and 6th. The greenish ion component covering the coma extends to nearly 10 arcminutes in apparent diameter, with a clear ion tail stretching in several streaks for almost 20 arcminutes towards the north. Combined with the bell-shaped coma, the comet presents an appearance reminiscent of a jellyfish.
