On this day, Comet Pons-Brooks was positioned in the evening western sky, approximately 7 degrees WSW of γ Cygni. The effects of the burst that occurred the previous year had subsided, and only a faint greenish coma was observed. The total brightness of the coma on this day was estimated to be between 8th and 9th magnitude.
