On this day, Comet Hartley 2 was situated in the central part of Andromeda, approximately 7 degrees southwest of γ And (Almach). Only a faint coma with brightness of 12th magnitude was observable. The comet is currently moving rapidly eastward, and it is forecasted to be visible at its maximum brightness of 7th magnitude in October 2023.
