At Japan, alpha Carinae, Canopus is seen in the lowest southern sky. People who lives in northern hemisphere have the yearning toward the bright star as a symbol of southern skies that we cannnot appreciate like the Southern Cross, etc.
The northest limit to see Canopus lies about 300km(190miles) north of Tokyo.
