This snapshot shows the rising constellation of Crux, the Southern Cross, from lower SSE skies captured at the huge botanical park of "Gardens by the Bay" established in the Marina district of Singapore. You can switch displayed/ hidden states of star links and names of constellations and bright stars by clicking a button in upper right hand side of the page.
During my five-day stay for official job, only this day was blessed with a fine condition. The sky was obscured by an intense lightning in central district of Singapore; I could detect only stars brighter than 2nd magnitude at most. However, the Crux could be recognized easily because the tiny constellation consists of two 1st and individual 2nd and 3rd magnitude stars. You can see other two 1st magnitude stars in Centaurus just below of the Crux. Among them, α-Cen (Rigil Kentaurus) has been known as the closest star system from the solar system.
This image shows you the photogenic tree-monuments of "Super tree Grove" bristled in center of the Gardens by the Bay. The light and music show has been held every nights, the location is one of the major sightseeing spots and crowded with many tourists.
