NGC7497 is an edge-on galaxy about 3 degrees north-northeast of α Pegasi (Markab).
It is about 1' thick and 5' long, and has a brightness of 13th magnitude.
The galaxy has been classified as a barred spiral galaxy, but the spiral structure is unclear.
The galaxy overlaps with a large molecular cloud LBN419 spreading in the western region of constellation Pegasus, and its faint appearance can be seen in this photograph.
We are looking up at a galaxy 53 million light years away beyond the molecular cloud about 1000 light years away in our Galaxy.
