Objects around IC348, IC1985
At the southernmost end of Perseus, the small reflection nebula IC1985 lies just south of the 4th-magnitude star ο Persei, visible at the upper left of the frame, and the small open cluster overlapping it is IC348. Its apparent diameter is about 10 arcminutes, and its position is roughly midway between the California Nebula and the Pleiades. Very faint molecular clouds extend throughout this region in addition to these objects. About 1 degree west of omicron Per lies LBN 749, which emits faint Hα light and is intricately intermixed with the dark nebula B2. It spans about 2.5 degrees from east to west, but long exposures are required to capture it.

This is a wide-field image that includes the first image in this page. At the southernmost end of Perseus, the 4th-magnitude star ο Persei appears just west of ζ Persei at the left edge of the frame, and immediately to its south lies the small reflection nebula IC1985 with the small open cluster IC348 superimposed on it. In the southern part of the field, an extended molecular cloud with very few stars is visible, along with several dark nebulae. These interstellar gas clouds are the same material that forms IC1985 and related objects, and they shine by reflecting the light of nearby stars.
