Abell 194 is a galaxy cluster located about 6.7 degrees due north of θ Ceti in the western part of Cetus.
Within a diameter of roughly 50 arcminutes, it contains just under 40 galaxies, and its distance is estimated to be about 280 million light-years.
Although galaxy clusters belonging to the Pisces-Cetus Supercluster are widely distributed across this region of the sky, Abell 194 lies far in the foreground of that structure.
In the northeastern part of the cluster, two relatively conspicuous lenticular galaxies, NGC 541 and NGC 545, are visible;
these are also cataloged as peculiar galaxies Arp 133 and Arp 308, respectively.
