This multi-flame picture shows you the progress of total lunar eclipse on Jan 31, 2018. Although the Moon was often covered with thin clouds during the partial eclipse in the first half, it was comparatively fine during the totality. I could observe almost all the progress of event.
This time the Moon passed southern part of the Earth shadow, you can see that the eclipsed Moon looks brighter in its southern part when the Moon was eclipsed at maximum (an image taken at 22:30). Especially I could hardly recognize the northern part of eclipsed Moon through the view finder of camera, I got the impression that this lunar eclipse was comparatively dark one compared with normal cases.
All images are displayed turning the celestial north direction upward.
