This set of images shows you the comparison of Moon of two total lunar eclipses observed on Oct 8, 2014 and Dec 10, 2011, taken with same equipment and exposure times. I have indicated an eclipsed Moon in 2014 before its maximum eclipse (magnitude of 1.10) to arrange the condition with the maximum eclipse magnitude in 2011. The lunar eclipse in 2014 looks slightly darker than that in 2011. But it may be due to the apparent effect, the difference of lunar positions relative to the Umbra. The Moon in 2011 passed near southern edge of the Umbra. The mountainous, to say, bright region in southern part of Moon was close to the edge of Umbra.
